World Diabetes Day 2024

Under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps,” the event highlighted inspiring individuals, expert-led workshops, essential health services, and the incredible sense of community that drives our mission forward.

Dr. Ngoga hosted an insightful workshop focusing on the critical link between oral health and diabetes. Participants learned about the impact of diabetes on oral health, prevention tips, and the importance of regular dental care for managing diabetes effectively.

The Youth Empowerment Panel Session featured inspiring talks by William Gisa and Ben Isabane, who has lived experience with type 1 diabetes (T1D). They shared their personal journeys, overcoming health challenges, and empowering young people to take charge of their health and pursue their dreams with resilience.

Alphonse Mbarushimana, the Executive Director of the Rwanda NCD Alliance, (Pictured second from the left in the photo) delivered an impactful keynote speech highlighting the urgent need for increased awareness and action on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Rwanda. His address inspired attendees to advocate for stronger policies and collaborative efforts to combat the rising NCD burden.
